Sustainability Navigator

On the way to a sustainable Zurich airport region

The FRZ has initiated several specific projects to promote sustainability. These will be made visible on a separate microsite in the FRZ Sustainability Navigator from September 2025. In addition to the projects that the FRZ itself or co-initiated, the Sustainability Navigator also presents best practices in the areas of ecology, social, economic and sustainable corporate governance by FRZ members. The aim is to share good ideas, innovations and solutions within the network and thus contribute to a more sustainable Zurich airport region.

FRZ members who would like to propose a project for the Sustainability Navigator can contact Fernanda Frighetto directly."

Some examples of FRZ sustainability projects:

ICT circular economy for FRZ

The aim is to establish a sustainable circular economy process for ICT devices in the region. The implementation includes the ICT Asset LifeCycle Service, which is supported by HewlettPackard Enterprise & Klein Computer System AG to reuse used ICT hardware components regardless of the manufacturer.

A circular economy report helps FRZ members achieve their ESG goals and promotes the federal government's “Sustainable Development 2030” strategy.

A pilot project is being carried out with the cities of Dübendorf and Kloten to market the concept and get other FRZ companies excited about the initiative.

Social commitment in the FRZ

The focus is on expanding volunteer work in the region — according to the motto “From FRZ, for FRZ” — encouraging employees from FRZ member companies to get involved locally in community projects.

Sustainable HR best practices

The aim is to promote sustainable HR practices in order to attract, retain and train talent in the region.

The initiative supports SMEs in the fight against the shortage of skilled workers and promotes the hiring of career changers, retirees and people with disabilities.

Sustainability digital checkup

A digital tool helps member companies take their first steps towards a more sustainable future.

The tool should also help to sensitize employees and to derive concrete measures to improve sustainability.

This is done in collaboration with tfy-consult.
