With a single purchase order, investors can simultaneously invest in around 20 different companies that have a connection to the Zurich airport region.
Investing in companies in the nearer and wider Zurich airport region is uncomplicated with the help of a new financial product. The ZKB Tracker Certificate FRZ Flughafenregion Zürich is traded on the SIX Swiss Exchange (SIX). Instead of buying shares such as Flughafen Zürich AG, Vetropack SA or Dormakaba Holding AG individually, investors can invest in around 20 companies with a single purchase order.
Relevance of various criteria
The composition of the share basket is determined by the trading department of Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) based on a design by FRZ Flughafenregion Zürich. Swiss companies are selected which are based in the canton of Zurich and are dependent on the airport due to their internationality or benefit from its proximity and charisma. In addition, shares listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange with a minimum market capitalization of more than CHF 500 million that have a published "market weight" or "overweight" rating from Zürcher Kantonalbank's research prior to inclusion in the basket are exclusively eligible.
Regional connection
The share basket enables an investment with a regional connection and thus an identification of the potential investors with the companies included. "The tracker certificate emphasizes the economic importance of the region," explains Peter Arnold, Head Communications & Partnerships at FRZ Flughafenregion Zürich. FRZ is possibly one of the first location development organizations in the world to take such an initiative.

Outstanding companies create a positive image that reflects on the entire region. The design of the financial product is based on the following hypothesis: Airport regions are regions with above-average growth. Accordingly, the companies operating in this region should have above-average potential.

The following companies are included in the FRZ Flughafenregion Zürich equity basket based on ZKB Research: ABB Ltd, Accelleron Industries AG, Allreal Holding AG, Barry Callebaut AG, Belimo Holding AG, Bucher Industries AG, Burkhalter Holding AG, Cembra Money Bank AG, dormakaba Holding AG, Flughafen Zürich AG, Givaudan AG, Kardex AG, ORIOR AG, SIKA AG, Sonova Holding AG, Stadler Rail AG, Swiss Life Holding AG, Tecan Group AG, UBS Group AG, Vetropack Holding SA and VZ Holding AG.
Each company has the same weighting. The basket is reviewed annually by ZKB and adjusted if necessary. Companies with a published "underweight" rating from Zürcher Kantonalbank's research are also sold from the basket during the year and replaced by other shares in accordance with the principles outlined above.
