Nürensdorf is a rural residential community located between the cities of Zurich and Winterthur. Its altitude (505 to 610 m above sea level) allows views of the beautiful mountains from many places, from the Säntis to the Bernese Alps. The four districts of Nürensdorf, Birchwil, Oberwil and Breite are embedded in the rural, natural surroundings. They are known as the low-fog zone of the Zurich lowlands.
Nürensdorf, with almost 6,000 inhabitants, has a low tax burden. The population is growing steadily. The highest growth rates were recorded between 1965 (1,018 inhabitants) and 1973 (2,867).
Nürensdorf has traditional village centers, single-family home neighborhoods embedded in the landscape as well as modern residential areas with apartment buildings. Although large urban centers such as Kloten, Zurich and Winterthur are only a few kilometers away, Nürensdorf is still very rural and close to nature. Almost half of the municipal area is used for agriculture.
