As part of the Glattalstadt, Bassersdorf (Bülach district) has developed into a medium-sized agglomeration municipality with all the advantages of a well-established business location.
Despite the enormous growth of recent years, the municipality has managed to retain its village charm and, thanks to its ideal location in the triangle between Zurich, Winterthur and the airport in Kloten, well-known companies have settled in Bassersdorf.
Bassersdorf is also extremely popular as a place to live, as evidenced by the significant population growth over the last 20 years.
In 2000, the municipality had a population of 7,400, rising to over 10,000 just seven years later. Today, the population is around 12,000. In addition to a wide range of educational and childcare facilities, Bassersdorf has attractive sports and leisure facilities as well as a diverse range of clubs and associations.
The redevelopment of the village center, which included the construction of rental apartments, shopping facilities and a multifunctional village square, has also had a positive impact on the attractiveness of village life.
Attractive village center
In 2015, a new, attractive village center was created on the site of the former Bassersdorf train station.
Two residential and commercial buildings with a total of 71 rental apartments surround the village square with a new pavilion - which also offers space for events. Both properties have a base area for the Migros and Coop supermarkets. The properties also have attractive roof gardens on the roof of the plinth area, which serve as communal outdoor spaces. A parking garage connects all the buildings underground and offers a total of 254 parking spaces for business customers and residents.
